Church services are held on the 2nd (Shotsuki Service) and 4th (Family Service) Sundays.

Starting June – last Family Service until September
June, July, August – Shotsuki Service only
Exception: July – Obon/Hatsubon/Nokotsudo and Family Service

Jazz Musician Francis Wong Helps Turn Florin’s Skylar Lam, Lyrics into a Gatha

_{^{Jazz musician and longtime Buddhist Church of San Francisco member Francis Wong, Sacramento Betsuin Rimban Rev. Yuki Sugahara, Skylar Lam and Lisa Orpilla gathered in Sacramento in June to rehearse and record “Storms and Peace.” Wong wrote the music to Skylar’s lyrics and performed on soprano saxophone. Skylar was featured on ukulele and percussion, Rev. Sugahara on electric bass, and Orpilla, a member of the Cherry Blossomz group, was on vocals. Rev. Delta Education Cultural Society | Asian Memorial Garden Project

The Asian American Heritage Park Project, which is located at 27 Main Street, Isleton, CA 95641, will be a garden open to the public including landscaping, water features, small memorial structures on a 3,049sp. ft. lot on Isleton’s Historical Main Street. While it is expected to be complete in Oct/Nov, there is still a great deal of fund-raising going on. Your support would be greatly appreciated, either by purchasing a Commemorative Brick or making a donation. Program on the Manzanar Baseball Project

The Japanese American National Museum will host a program on the Manzanar Baseball Project, Postponed until December 7, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 100 North Central Ave. in L.A.’s Little Tokyo

Dharma School

We utilize an exciting and motivating curriculum, which covers the central teachings of Jodo Shinshu Buddhism. Practice, etiquette, Buddhist history, development of good character, ethical values, family relationships, value of lifelong education, self-esteem issues, cultural arts, comparative religions, and other important topics for young people. Please sign up your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their friends. They are the future of our wonderful temple.

Jr. YBA

The Florin Jr. YBA (Young Buddhist Association) is the youth group of the Buddhist Church of Florin and was organized to meet the needs of teens from grades 8 through 12. The Jr. YBA members participate in religious, athletic and social activities within the temple as well as district seminars, annual conferences, and sports tournaments. Our group supports and takes an interest in all the activities of the church (such as the annual Mochi-tsuki, food bazaars, Obon Festival, and Hana Matsuri) and we chair Dharma School services throughout the year. The Florin Buddhist Women’s Association is part of the Northern California District Buddhist Women’s Association. The Buddhist Women’s Association is the women’s organization of the Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha temples worldwide. The Buddhist Churches of America (BCA) Federation of Buddhist Women’s Associations (FBWA) is a member of the World Federation of Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji-ha Buddhist Women’s Associations.
